Definition: corporate communications
Corporate communications is the function that manages how a company presents itself to every audience it depends on: buyers, investors, employees, reporters, and regulators. In Beltway Media's view, the chief communications officer is the architect of the entire corporate narrative and the company's primary voice.
The goal is alignment. Communications is only valuable at the leadership level if messaging tracks real decisions on risk, product, investment, and talent. When the product roadmap and the communications strategy move together, the company can set itself apart in a crowded market.
